Hump Game Injeapordy - Timber West Permission Issue

I have responded to her and hopefully will be able to come to an agreement. I'm not sure if they believe the site is being used for a profit venture or what and the reason why the outstanding permission given to use the site in the past is not valid. Or if it has expired, forgotten or what. I hope to find out more tomorrow when she response. Lets keep our figures crossed and work with Timber West to resolve this matter, as we don't want this to go sour and ruin this weekend and future use of this area.
Hopefully we can come to an agreement that protects all our interests, but be prepared to give and take a little. I think the advertisment of paint sales is what set the alarm bells going or someone local ratted us out as I have seen some negitive posts on alberni.ca about paintballers using the area in the past. I don't know, but I will try everythig I can to resolve this issue. I'll keep in touch.

Hopefully this minor Timber West stuff gets sorted out - it's probably just a miscommunication issue as suspected.

I'm NOT so awesome with getting charged with trespassing, though. That may make it even more difficult for me to find work as a security guard.
<swear filter> <swear filter> <swear filter>ing <swear filter>s and their <swear filter>ing <swear filter>s tied in a knot!*
*note: The above is not actual swearing, but rather just creative self-censorship. Just so you know, mods.

I've had dealings with Timber West before and basically the only thing they want happening on their land is clear cut logging. Up until recently I worked as a commercial bee keeper, and the company that I worked for had been using Timber West's forrest lands for decades as areas for bees, about two years ago for no apparent reason they basically kicked us and all the other beekeepers off their land. Anyhow hopefully this matter can be resolved, and we'll be able to play.

Damn it all...
Weather Network says 30% chance of precipitation for Saturday; up to 1mm.
40% for Sunday; up to 1mm.
C'mon... that's not pretty crappy! Are you from Vancouver Island or what?
I've got a tarp big enough to cover a small speedball field (OK, I'm exaggerating- it's 40' x 30')... I can bring it if anyone wants, but I doubt there's a spot where the trees are that far apart. I've got a pile of smaller tarps as well, which I will bring.
Just replace your speed-feed with the stock lid & don't worry about the weather!

Not worried, just passing on what I've been hearing. Crawlerz didn't exactly pass on any stats, but now that you have, you're right - I've gotten wetter during a ferry ride to Powell River! This is nothing.
As for the tarp, that's EXACTLY what we'll need for the safe zone, great idea. I'll see if I've got any in a similar size, and pack it in my gearbag with a whopping big load of Paracord (to string it all up)... just in case Zero-Niner and Co. can work something out with The Man.

Lets all wait and see what they say. I'm sure they don't want to have bad press over stopping paintball in a place they have allowed it in the past.
So everyone stay patient and lets follow procedures to increase our success in this matter.

Yeah, that was John of J&J paintball who aquired that permission some 15 years ago. I think Timber West is the land-owner up there, but I'm not really sure. The stipulations of the agreement were (are): No nails in live trees, and no permanent structures, and that's it. Sadly, not everyone knows the stipulations, or perhaps they just don't care, so there has been some recent (last year or two) building involving nails in trees. So far, the land owner hasn't tore the place down, but time will tell...
I imagine the same stipulations must have been in place when the Hump field agreement took effect. Now, I wasn't really looking carefully at the structures up there when I was there, but it's hard to imagine that there aren't any nails in trees up there. And if there's nails in trees, then the agreement is broken, & guess where Timber West will tell us to shove it?

As far as bad press goes from not letting a bunch of paintballers play on their land...I'm pretty sure they aren't too worrried about it. They would be muuch more worried about one of those paintballers (or innocent bypasser) getting hurt on their land.

i'm sorry to hear that TW is threatening to remove our access to the field. I am choked, and will be very upset if TW actually closes access. if that happens we will just have to find another area and start over. I'm not going to stop playing in Alberni just because some TW dude says so. I'm sure we can find someone with some land or maybe some Crown land and get permission from the city or whoever and build bigger and better, and TW can keep their "useless for timber" field. if they haven't needed it yet they won't ever need it. they have thousands and thousands of Acres of trees that are more suited for whatever they need them for.
-1 for TW

k so here we sit. (i just heard the news). so imma bit unprepared 4 some great idea outta th' seat of my pants. - but all is not lost. we have many leaders and creativists etc. in the community. an alternate location? boot lagoon? i dunno. it wouldn't really be a problem having campers and players on the weekend at my place in nanaimo. it would be short notice etc. but i'm a believer in what we all have going with island united and the big game formats.
if it goes at my place:
- no aditional costs
- people are gonna wanna carpool, like squeeze 3-4 per vehicle would be a must
- we'd need volunteers to bring some of the speedball bunkers up from duncan to enhance what's here
- prolly best to keep it to one day (sunday) in light of the 'situation' but i'm flexible
an alternate port alberni location would be better but there'd be no forts...... hmmmm other ideas fella's?

It'll cost us a lot of donuts and the clean up is going to take forever but it'll be hella fun.

That would be very sweet of Pete to do so... even with the standard field fees.
What is "Rezzdawgs" field?

if i know it's a go, i'll prep everything to accomodate every1. it's a small field but it's thick with lotsa variety. covered staging area. washroom for the ladies. coffee.
no additional 'field fee'
no increase in paint costs - still starting in the $30/case range
if you're camping i have a 4200 sq. ft. house under construction on site (with a roof) players can go into.
the hump would be ideal, but from my understanding, timberwest won't allow it which is a shame - but life. i realize a lot of players like the renegade 'feel' and i do too. we can regroup and do another biggie at some of the other renegade locations for the one after this weekend. every city has a renegade field.
