Looking To Play.

I'm a long time Nanaimo resident but have only recently discovered the joy of paintball. I have one other co-worker who would like to get out as much as possible and my wife gets out once in a while (I think she likes to shoot me) so we would like to meet some other regulars and find some more fields to play at. We all have our own gear so with a little notice we should be able to play anywhere. Hope to hear from some of you regulars soon.

Hook up with Joshua (HellFire) or Fatty or tomn8r... those are three north of Nanaimo and Nanaimo ballers I know. There are some others who are running games up your way to... I suspect they will be along here shortly. GL. If you get a rocking game together post up... we might join in!!! Check out the "HUMP" game on the May long weekend (Alberni Hump).

If it's a big, epic game however, I'll likely be there... like the May long weekend campout at the hump & Midway's big game this year on Aug 15th...
Where the heck do people play in Nanaimo anyhow? I keep reading about outlaw fields being shut down & such... isn't there a commercial field in Nanaimo?

70 players. That sounds like fun. I've only played 5 on 5s or smaller with my friends so a bigger game would be cool. Is it hard to find Point Blank cuz with the parkway its not too far from Nanaimo to Comox for a Sunday outing. I've heard the rates are good there so it would be worth the travel.
We play on a small outlaw field in north Nanaimo area that some of my friends introduced me to and its tons of fun but its only an acre or so big. I've heard of some guys that play out in the Cedar area south of Nanaimo but have not played with them yet.
Hope to get up to Comox soon so maybe we might meet up sometime. Watch for the older mellow guy with the short arm. He's not as slow as he looks. ha, ha.

The rates are good, but the days are kinda short (noonish til 4:30ish). However all the games we play are of the ressurection type, so there's lots of "play time" squeezed in there.
$10 for field & air
$60 case of paint, or bring your own (No other commercial field does that. Cheap paint is not welcome. No Walmart or Monster or other crap please!)
Mother's Day Special: Free rentals for all Mothers and 200 free pain'balls as well!
To get there: Follow the signs for the Powell River Ferry terminal. It is right here:

Pain'ballers park behind the bakery.

Hey, thanks for the invite. Won't be able to go on mothers day due to mothers day but I'll definitely try to get down there soon.

Bring yer own paint at a commercial field?!? Very cool. Seems easy enough to find. Thanks for the info and directions.

Op. Wingnut, way back in the day at Gemini
The only field I've ever known while I lived in the Valley was Gemini Paintball (quite some driving out past Lake Trail school in Courtenay), and last I heard Pat and Keith weren't doing too well with business there. There was also a field out in Merville I visited off-game once to buy a Pro-Lite from the owner. That field's name escapes me at the moment.
If you're interested in big games, there is Hump Day 2 coming up in Port Alberni on May Long, and Operation Colombia happening at Tsawassen on July 11th. A lot of the people on this forum are going to be going to both events (including myself, Fergus from Kelowna, and Oscuro and Rockfrog from Duncan).

Hey how are ya? I'm new to the game (6 or so months) and I have yet to play at Point Blank but it looks like they play woodsball/scenario type games and maybe speedball as well. They are on Anderton Rd. on the way to the Powell River ferry. Looks like very good rates- $10 for field and air and $60 for paint or, get this, you can bring your own paint as long as its a good quality brand. Hoping to go there soon.

At Point Blank most of the players are new or casuals, regulars like myself try to keep a low rate of bps versus the noobs and firstimers. Battles among regulars, well the bps seems to increase tenfold! Overshooting is frowned upon, especially at deadmen walking and the ref.
Semi, R/Ts, are the only rate of fire allowed at this field. I'd say 80% of the players will be using tippmans or similar and the rest will be speedball style of markers. We get a lot of groups - sports, business, stags, and of course birthday parties.
Fields are setup for woodsball, and there is a rough* speedball area that KVK look after.. *rough as compared to the Island's premium field "The Cage"
Every field has it's quirks and Point Blank has it's own....Most people like them but a few don't....something about the owner shooting people who break the rules. Putting bounties on certain players....
For woodsball there is - No mercy rule, no shots closer than 15 feet, resurrection games and no cussing because of all the young kids that play here.
There is a bakery on site where they serve pizza by the slice, soup, sandwiches, chili, and other baked goods. Some parents just drop off their kids to play and then sit by the bakery with a fresh cup of joe and a muffin. Life is good in the Valley!

Is there going to be any activity happening at Point Blank this weekend?* Playing is not an option for me right now, but I will be at CFB Comox this weekend, so it's possible for me to pay a visit!
* On re-reading the thread, I notice there will be a Mother's Day special - but I'll be spending Mother's Day with my ... well ... mother! I'm asking about Saturday in particular.

Pat is on facebook.
Thanks! I was able to track both Pat and Point Blank down.
I also checked the map on Google - wouldn't you know it! I lived in an apartment building spitting distance from the Ryan/Anderton intersection for six years!
At this distance, I could have marched to a game at Point Blank in full gear in twenty minutes, and marched back home afterwards...
