Wow, are things really that slow at Midway? I don't understand... it's such a sweet field... but such a long drive for me. I'd like to get down there at least once before Aug 15th, but there's gotta be a worthwhile game for that. I'm used to playing anywhere from 10 vs 10 up to 40 vs 40... the bigger games are mostly renters, natch.

yes but ambush is on the mainland and i cant cough up that kind of cash for travel. one day i will see that field.

I have mixed feelings about the seperation of the rental players from the regulars. TNT has started doing an own-gear group on days when there are alot of own gear players and I can understand it and consider it a success in many ways but I'm convinced that new players that get the chance to play alongside (instead of seperate from) outgoing experienced players are far more likely to be drawn into the sport long term. That does mean relying on your regulars to take a degree of responsability and checking their rate of fire etc so as not to destroy and discourage the new comers as well as being willing to split up if necessary to keep teams balanced.

I've never heard significant complaints about being mixed in with regulars at any rec day I've played at. There's often some fear and anticipation about "Oh My God... do you see that guy? We're screwed" but after a game or two it tends to go away as they see regulars getting shot out too. I know the guys at TNT and VPA (both the staff and alot of the regulars) have gotten good at dispelling that tension in new players and I suspect its part of the reason for the size of their community of regulars.

New and Casual players aren't likely to become regular players if they perceive the regulars as scary or elitist.

i agree. i just want more people to come and play. thats all this thread is about. I personally will play "down" with renters so they will come back. I have even walked from cover to cover a few times to make it easier for a new guy to shoot me so they can say "i shot that pro guy!!"(i am by no means a pro tho,lol)

but like i said this thread was for rallying up some players for this sunday at midway.....nothing more.

well i don't really know a lot of people, but i'd like to find some... i've been telling all my buddies back in Campbell River to get into the sport, some seem to think it's cool and might start trying it out.

But as for here in duncan/nanaimo/victoria i don't know many people.

i wasnt really implying you man. kinda want the other regular midway players and employees to push people to come play. see ya tomorrow

Yeah some people just dissapeared off and no idea where they went pete and joshua etc. are doing a good job and lotsa regulars are in attendance again

well, I would come out more but time's tight these days .... finishing the shop so I have room to tech again, Building a new fence with the neighbors, Pregnant wife .... all means a bleak outlook for my PB fun this year. I'll try to get out soon ... someone's gotta make Josh run from time to time, hehehe. And to top it off I've been culled down to only one Hump Day 2 day. But ... I REALLY need to be hittin' Midway more often. And I'll play pistols, Renters don't seem to be so intimidated by a guy packing just pistols.
