It would seem there is enough interest to go ahead and start discussing having a Camping / Paintball event over the May long Weekend. Saturday 22nd to Sunday 23rd of May. At the Alberni Hump site again.

Tomn8r has offered to bring his cheap paint / Air and free rentals again (thanks your the best). It looks like team hellFire is onboard. We have a few new guys who missed out last time wanting to give it a go. Plus a few others have indicated there game.

So Lets start the main planning now here on this Thread and start recruiting more players.

If we do this we will have to figure out how we are going to fit people in there to camp. This would mean no trucks or cars parked down the road. Parking will have to be at the helipad a short distance up and across the highway. Hopefully it will also dry up a bit too and give us more room.

If anyone has other ideas for the camping space problem, lets hear it.

If you can come let us know too, and tell your friends

Count me in, I've been wanting to do a camping/paintball trip for awhile now.

One thing is I think that if this gets off the ground there needs to be a few ground rules for the camping part, mainly a quiet time / lights out at a reasonable hour say midnight, I say this because last time a bunch of us Island Militia members attended an overnight paintball event on the mainland a few summers ago, there were people all drunk & coked up, partying and blasting Iron Maiden (Not that I have anything against Iron Maiden) basically non-stop until about 8am. Basically do to the loud partying many people were unable to get a good nights sleep, and were too tired to really enjoy playing paintball in the morning.

Don't get me wrong I'm all for having a few wobbly pops around the campfire, but we have to do it in moderation so that everyone has a good time.

Good Piont, I agree totally. The big partiers can go out to Loon Lake and the quiter ones can stay and the field and watch over things.

Well I'm in for sure. I know some Point Blankers who pay no attention to these forms (retards, obviously), so I'll be doing some arm twistin' again. Maybe the whole camp-out idea will spark some interest.

I might need to promise these guys that this time we'll be playing mostly resurrection type games, rather than elimination... hmmm?
^^Tomn8r... Southpark? This is your cue, guys... whaddaya say? Keeps people in the games, so more paint can be slung... more slung paint=less unloading after laugh.gif

Nothing worse than getting tagged 30 seconds into a 20 minute elimination game... I should know... it's always me dry.gif

I think we can add that into the mix. We have Two day worth of paint slinging. I would also like to see a few limited ammo games and see how they work out

POWER TO THE PEOPLE!

Uh.... IMO the games we play are up to the people who show up to determine...

If you have a fav. game and need special props or stations or objectives post it up. I bet folks will jump in with both feet to get it done.

Anyway, I love resurrection games. Happy to play them. Most of the res games I have played have been longer games and have involved multiple point objectives (flag pull stations etc). How do you see it working?

im not sure resurrection works well for the type of games we play.

Capture the flag, attack and defend, and speedball type games dont work well if every guy you tag out keeps coming back. That would make for VERY long games indeed. for example ,If you were a defender you would be forced to call yourself out eventually due to running out of Air and paint.(if you didnt get hit of course)
Respawn rules are usually used at large scenario games where holding flagstations and the "line" are the objectives.

if we are gonna play scenario rules then we will need to build flagstations and more refs to watch the flagstations. More refs means less people playing and/or paying said refs, which will possibly raise the price of paint and or incur a field fee to pay them. Thus effectivley raising prices and changing this from "OUTLAW" to a "COMMERCIAL" type field.
Im pretty sure the low prices and "outlaw" feel of this venue is whats drawing out the players. If we change that im worried we will change something that worked fine in my opinion. the term "if it aint broke dont fix it" comes to mind.

anyways, thats my opinion on the resurrection rule, ill play either way but it is food for thought.

Something that I found worked really well at some of the fields I played on the mainland was a 20 minute elimination/respawn combo, all the deadies get respawned at the 5, 10 & 15 minute marks. All it takes is one of the refs to give them a shout in the staging area at the specified intervals and then they go and tag up and are back in the game.

Its a nice mix because you can still take better advantage of the space gained from players you killed like an elimination game (since theres not a constant inflow of players) but everyone still gets more playing time, and you get reinforcements sporadically

I'll possibly be playing half cut or hung over so a respawn option is a great idea.

If it's outlaw which by my understanding allows people to bring their own paint, then i'll hopefully be able to schedule time off so i can come. I've also got a huge tent that fits like 6-8 people comfortably. biggrin.gif so hopefully sleeping arrangements shouldn't be too much of a problem i hope... That is if we're doing the camp-out (Camping is the BEST!) but yeah... I've got a bit of paint now.. it'll prolly all be gone by then. but what if for the refs we had players themselves just rotate during games? Then we wouldn't have to increase paint charges, or stuff like that, because the refs could participate as well. just a thought.

Anyway, i hope i can get time off work, i love camping and paint balling... but together? that's like HEAVEN!!!

EDIT: P.S. Can i get directions? tongue.gif

I play ressurection games all the time. That's what we do up here.
20 on 20 in a two-flag game doesn't always end up in a righteous win, but often is! One team usually at least has touched the opponents' flag, if not moved it, before the 30 minute time limit. From that you can determine a winner.

Respawn by backing up 50 feet (or 100 or whatever) and touching a tree.
Last 5 minutes can be elimination too.

I like steveo's suggestion too- haven't tried that one. That would work well for this game.

There's a dirt road just before the brake check coming into Port Alberni. The field is just off the highway up that road.

I'll gladly buy a case or two off of whoever is bringing up some good Draxxus Paint and I'm happy to pay someone for use of thier lil compressor for air.

EDIT: Art Shunned and Removed - not that it was a submission for it's use. I just get creative when bored.

Already got the poster covered, with website and all the info needed. Thanks anyways

Tomn8r will be bring the paint and air/c02 again and for those who need paint, his prices are cheaper then Walmart and 100% better quality paint. SO I would just bring cash and buy off him. DON'T THROW YOUR MONEY AWAY ON CRAP PAINT PEOPLE!.

Tom - maybe you should post your full paint prices and weekend air prices so we all know what to save up.

I think the timed respawn for reserection games is a good idea. Remember we have a whole weekend and we will play something for everyone. Plus sometimes you may want a break to eat, drink, smoke, or to make a stinky huh.gif , so if you don't like a format being played at that moment take a break cool.gif .

Sall good Bro. It was posted because I was bored not for its use in anything official. I post and remove images often. It's the flip floppy hidden artist inside me.

I wonder if it'll be warm enough for me to bring my crazy huge watter balloon sling shot? - it's hella fun - not to shoot at people during games but...yeah the thing is nutz.

I was just going to bring out my Phantom for this but I think I'll remove my pink halfblock from it's display case on the wall for this special day as well.
