With paint shrinking to the size of elf nuts these days, J&J only makes a 682 I believe and that will be way too big if we follow the trend of the paint in the states.

I have a heck of a time with my cocker with the paint out there now. Get something that you can size to the balls. I broke down and bought a freak kit this winter to try and make it easier. I have dye barrels but you need a lot of backs to match the paint too.

I'm pretty fond of the Freak kit with my Cockers, but I know a lot of guys who swear by the Python kit too. If you go with the Freak make sure you've got a sturdy tube or case to keep your inserts in because the aluminum ones are thin and a dinged insert sucks. A paint pod works pretty well for holding freak inserts if you get a kit without the case.

if paint continues to shrink, there are .675 brass freak inserts being made on MCB.

CCM is also pondering about backs that are less than 679.

cant go wrong with either

No problem. If you can get something decent used go for it you won't regret it. There are a lot of freaks out there so inserts can be easy to find used too.

So far I've only used an insert smaller than .684 once and it was bloody cold out at the time.

I constantly use 682 when i'm pumping. 679 is rarely used, but I have a feeling paint shrinkage is well on its way here.

Don't want to get off topic but what kind of paint are you guys mainly using on the Island these days?

Depends on where I'm playing but personally I've been shooting mostly Draxxus lately and it's been pretty consistent at .689-.687

Yeah, I've broken out my .684 twice so far with Draxxus, but I'm usually using the .687 might be that I'm shooting the Bronze more often than not while you're usually using the gold aren't you?

That'd be it, I normally stick to silver (unless the gold is looking nice)

Tech T has put out a universal backer system from .667 to .692 and it is meant to be used with stock barrels

I have been using a J&J for a while now and it's been great, but the roll outs are starting to get annoying. So i just wrought J&J an email complaining and asking them
if they are likely to produce barrels with smaller bore sizes. I think any body here that likes J&J should do the same. It's good to give these companies feed back
so they can make sure to continue to make relevant products.

Just my thoughts on it any way.

PS: I just got a reply from J&J they should have new backs coming out in the next couple of months. sweeet
