Hey guys,
We at TPG want to bring over our new motorized tank for a game on the Island this year, and I have fond memories of Indian Road Wargames from years past.
Does anyone know if the current setup is suitable for an 8 wheel Argo conversion?
Matt / TPG

hi matt.
the Midway field has a road that runs down the center of the whole field that would definatley be good for a tank. most of the fields can have bunkers moved to create a tank path as well. im sure if we get something organized with you and your tank we can make it work. I just hope i can PLAY in this one rather than reff. ill pm you pete's info

Joshua,
When is it scheduled? Need to know so I can plan around it.
... only one? I know there was talk of having more than one this year.

As fun as the Battle of Midway was last year, one thing for certain is that there wasn't nearly enough refs. So for what it's worth, I'd like to suggest that ticket discounts be offered to those who are willing to ref for a portion of the day. If its gonna be a $40 ticket for an 8 hour game, then why not offer a $30 ticket for 6 hours of play and 2 hours of reffing, and/or a $20 ticket for 4 hours of play and 4 hours of reffing? I, for one, would gladly pick up one of the cheaper tix, and ref for a while, and I'm sure several others would too.
Wouldn't you agree, Josh? I mean after all, you did your time last year, right?

unfortunatley fatty i am not the one to be asking about discounted prices as i am not the field owner or manager.
as far as reffing goes though we would need people who have reffed before and actually know what they are doing not just any person who feels like reffing.
reffing is not as easy as most would think. you have to know the field, the field rules, be impartial and fair, be on the move constantly for paint checks and chronoing, watching for wipers etc. etc.
not a bad idea tho fatty but ultimatley it is up to Midway Pete and not myself.

Well, yeah... that's about what I figured... Surely there must be a large enough group of "regulars" who play at Midway from which Pete can pick & choose from though... Why not run the idea past him? I'd do it, except he doesn't know me- it would be better coming from you... Also, don't you think 20 rookie-refs (trying their darnedest) might do a little better than 5 experienced refs who have to scramble all over the place? Just food for thought.
