Hey all. So I have been looking around for a j&j edge kit (with five backs)for my auto cocker. There are lots of sites that sell them but the Canadian ones are so much more expensive (or just don't have them) and I am always afraid that I'm going to get hit with huge Duty fees form the American ones. I have had this problem before ordering a hundred $100 vest and getting hit with a $50 duty charge. mad.gif

So I was just wondering what sites people on here use and what they think of them. I have herd good things about Canadian Paintball but unfortunately they do not have what I am looking for this time.

Any input is appreciated whether it is sites to use or stay away from.

Thanks for your time

I know that Bastion Paintball used to carry the J&J Edge kit with Cocker threads, may want to shoot Tekk a PM and see if he still has them. PW Paintball may have them as well but I never checked. You might want to also check with the guys at Harresons, I think they're mostly Tippmann and BT focused right now, but they may deal with J&J barrels and if so might be able to order a Cocker threaded kit in for you.

I do occasionally order odd stuff from ANS like Automag parts and other very specific things which are out of production and out of stock elsewhere. Generally what you save on the price tag you'll spend on shipping and duty to within a couple of percent difference so it's really not saving you much if anything most of the time. If you do feel the need to shop across the border ANS has always done well by me but I try to keep my money on this side of the border when I can.

Dont get anything shipped across the border with fedex or ups, they murder you on brokerage fees. deal with places that ship US Postal Service or if they only do courrier then get it shipped to Seawings in Blaine and then they'll transport it to the victoria airport where you can pick it up an avoid getting hammered on the courriers brokerage fees (and you can take advantage of free shipping in the US)

Explain "SeaWings" stevo...

I generally go USPS unless it is something crazy like a new marker and I want tracking and insurance etc...

I have used ansgear and actionvillage without issue as well as Canadian sources like buypbl and paintballgear.ca... However, whenever possible please give our few remaining local island options a chance. PW, Bastion, Harrison, RisingSun... local boys.

SeaWings is a company that poses as a "middle man" for cross border shipping. They bring the package to Victoria airport using their own means, and you pick it up there.

I think my dad was going to use this for motorcycle parts

Thanks all, the response has been great. That tip about Seawings could come in handy for a lot of things thanks. I would defiantly like to support the locals and I will have to try and get in touch with Bastion and RisingSun to see what they've got.

It is all ways nice when the American sites ship with US postal unfortunately so many don't.

THere is also NSP (Nicol Street Pawnbrokers in Nanaimo). Was in there for the first time on Saturday not expecting much, but wow! they were great. Dwayne there seemed to know his stuff, but they do mostly carry Kee Action Sport stuff like BT (which is great as that is what I have), Tippman and alot of other Mil Sim Markers and gear. THey did have some Speedball stuff and my be able to help you find what you need.

... and let's not forget us; your friendly neighbourhood wholesalers. making contacts with all the key players and helping players find what they need since 1986 (kinda hard to not have an answer). it's who you know. every1 else's company got a plug here so why not us:

- the cage
- b.c. supernaturals
- central island paintball
- the vancouver island paintball club
(that's a lot of gats, hoppers, bbls, etc. etc.) - oh and about 1/2 million paintballs a year. so mass buying means.........

plus we're the only store on the island with a full 7-player speedball field, a bushball field, a 4500 psi compressor, sponsored teams, a website www.vancouverislandpaintball.comxa.com etc etc. (i know, i know, every1 forgets us...)

here are a few cage samples that went out last month; proto matrix 08 - $275 to kyle b; mint 09 rotor $100 to ian; 08 proto gearbag (roller) $40 to misfits. so, yeah. give us a try and see what we'd charge. pm'able right here right now.

Yeah that basically sums it up, same idea as TSB in point roberts or whatever, but they bring it up from blaine and you go to the airport (the building is ~100 feet away from the departures area), they give you a slip and you walk over to the customs office and clear customs, then walk back to their office and give them the paperwork and your fees and you pick it up, takes a few minutes and is pretty painless
For some motorcycle gear i bought off newenough.com it worked out to being 35 bucks cheaper (and faster) to have them ship it to seawings via fedex or ups (dont remember which they use) and having seawings bring it up than to just have newenough ship it straight up via USPS.

Just from personal experience don't buy from painballgear.ca They took forever to get me my stuff. I ordered it a month and a half before my friend's birthday and it still got to me late after I called them twice.

islandpaintball.ca
I've bought and sold probably over eight grand worth of gear here - no joke.
Post a WTB thread up on here and certainly someone might have it used or will PM you that they can get it for you brand new.

I wouldn't hesitate to call some local dealers first and get a price/eta quote. pDub or Brandon. Your best off calling both of them if you're going to PayPal and wait for something anyways

But if we are strictly talking about a point, click and buy option where the PBL, Badlands, paintballgear, Panther, instockpaitnball and canadianpaintball web stores just can't do it for you (obviously calling them to confirm stock on hand versus website update lag) - where you feel you must shop outside of our own country...and you just can't wait to buy at a local BCPPL Event Vendor Booth...(why you can't is beyond me)

<I've seen more stuff on hand with the above vendors booths at a BCPPL Event then I've seen listed in stock on thier websites - so calling them will prove just how out dated and out of sync thier sites can be with inventory on hand available for immediate sale.>

But as far as shiney new gear from a website that has it in stock ready to ship right after you pay...I've had great success with these sites:

http://www.razalife.com

http://store03.prostores.com/servlet/ccpai...line/StoreFront
(which is really just the cart option for eBay seller *ccpaintball*)

Both of them have received chunks of money from me and both shipped USPS quickly with no issues.

I have e-mailed all the local sites that I know of (RisingSun, Vancouver island paintball, & Bastion Paintball), but I only got a response back from Noodles. It’s been a couple of days now so I might have to try every one else again.
It sure would be nice to buy local so hopefully I will get a response this time. biggrin.gif

If not www.all4paintball.com seams to be the only Canadian site that carries what I am looking for
