most of us (the b.c. speedball community) have the basics figured out, but here's some confirmation:

5-minute centre-flag, 5 minute games
5 points per elimination, 25 points for 1st flag grab, 50 points for the hang = 100 points per game

eliminations:
player's responsibility to call themselves out. if they don't:
- 1 for 1 for unobvious hits
- 2 for 1 for obvious hits
- 3 for 1 for wiping hits

touch-up rule for leaving early
clothing matched to weather

hot guns (when chronied by a ref):

1 string of 3 must average under 300 fps if over;
a 2nd string option is offered with the 2nd string being the official speed
301-310fps - 25 point reduction from score
311+ - 50 point reduction from score

the bcppl rules have all the basics covered and will be used as a main guideline until an applicable '5-man' rulebook for R4TG is created. 'tom' rules are actually all of the speedball rules compliled since 1994 and then modernized through time. we won't say 'no foam pants' but every1 knows they are not allowed. some rules get pretty redundant. common sense and a ref pool that can accept their human limitations as they progress is the answer here.

i'll get on the 'printed' set for distribution as soon as i can.

guys, i've reffed both bcppl and mr series many times. at the amatuer level since 1986 actually. that includes being the provincial referee director for the old-school bcpa. i just want the games to be fair. fair for everyone; regardless of history or non-history.

the quality, the memories (good or bad) often comes down to the officiating. there has to be a level of trust there; the players and teams have to trust that they will be treated equally and fairly. all i can do is promise to do my best to stick to that oath to the players that the although i can't control every ref at every moment, and although i can't see everything at all times, i will endeavour to stick to the standard of fairness that i am posting now - and will preach integrity to all the refs directly to ensure the proper calls are made.

any questions regarding rules can be posted right here.

nov/am - open division regardless of points or status
rookie/app - no player can have placed first in rookie or higher in any mr/bcppl/nationals event

regarding bunkers, matt suggested he'd have an HB-clone field for the 'run'. we'll b getting as close as we can to it with what tpg has. should definately be sufficient for 5 player. crowded actually ha ha. i like it crowded tho.

this is the 'new world' tho and the internet and this forum create the abilty to do what the masses want.

the x-ball field will prolly have to be narrowed for the 'run' but we'll play that by ear. to me, the bigger and cluttered - the better.

Sounds good (the rules). When the posts started about Xball I got confused. So we are not playing XBall on Sunday... but on Saturday it is Xball. No foam mattresses... got it.

HB layout?

Is someone else also providing more bunkers to use? I don't think there's that many at TPG... I hope so, that layout looks like so much fun.

your standard 5-player field (at least in these parts for the past millenium) is 3 rows of 3 (each side) and a centre row. that's 22-26 bunkers. i like 30. the cage had 35 up last week and it was crowded. tswassen has 50 for that date. so yeah, i'd load up the van and take the cage's 40 or so but we really don't need that many. we'd be over-spoiled with 50 imo. - and yes, lotsa bunkers is usually very fun - more movement, less shooting. more thinking, less being 'pinned'. quite awesome for pump play me thinx.

We have a 52 bunker Xball court at TPG right now from 2008, and I have a new 2009 44 bunker one at PBL West. We'll recreate HB setup as closely as possible for those players who might be heading down from BC.

Sounds good buddy. Just got back to my office from the field and looks like we have 25 or so Xballers out there. Field conditions are very good. Sunny and 14 degrees in T Town right now.

See you all tomorrow am boys!
