Island Outlaw Weekend

So there's been a bit of talk in the Skyline thread about us having an outlaw camping adventure. Anyhow here's a place for us to discuss this. Tom has told me he's got a few locations here on the island that would suit our purpose, some near Nanaimo and a few out on the West Coast near Uculet . Between the lot of us Island Militia, Tom, SP, and everyone else we should have more then enough gear, paint and other supplies to make a killer outlaw weekend happen. Basically we just need to figure out the best weekend to do it on. Personally I'd prefer to do it sooner than later because it seems the more we get into the late spring summer the busier we all seem to get.

just re; paint. if we get paint blends ordered ahead of time, i can get it all bundled up into a skid and every1 gets what they want at a skid price. every1 would have to commit to 'event only' paint but the price would make it worth it. landed at low $30's for basic, add $5 for mid and $5 more for higher grades.
every1 kik dave and i $5 each for weekend air. (just speculating) sorry for any 'pre-involving' without other's permissions. my bad. just chuckin it out there.
sp n i have enuf air to inflate running bear's ego. byob. tents. late april?

- will camp be close to field area?
- room for a tent trailer or just tent?
- facilities of any kind? ... I wonder if my company has any portolets left on the Island that I could borrow for the weekend?
Questions about timing:
- I've booked the friday as a vacation day as well but wonder if the event will be Fri-Sun or Sat-Sun?

That's exactly the point. If I plan on being available for something in March, we need a whack of answers for the "support matrix": food/lodging/facilities. If its later in the year thats cool, just seemed like people were talking about a "soon" trip without any details brought up.
... and don't forget the "its OK to play here so no one gets arrested" thing.
You know me, I'm an olde details guy trapped in the mind of an eight year old.

that'd be my vote. close to fresh water. some1 could bring a pooper but we're talking the west coast of b.c. here. a little hole and a scoop of dirt and yer golden.
could still have campfires.
far enuff out we won't have visitors but still close to the hwy for easy access/departure. could do a beach assault/island defend thingie 30 clix to ucluelet. - top secret beach - me know only. but blowhole, zillions of collectable rocks on 'steep beach'. mini islands. multiple beach areas. sand. tits. ooops. wait. hold on that. byot. sorry.
does any of this help. i know of other gems. we could actually stop shy of port alberni and play on that huge mothertruckin renegade field at the top of the hump. hundreds of forts. do a quick 2 hour burn there b4 we carry on. nature. fats. brew ha ha's. moonlight. wolf howls. i dunno. sounds like too much fun .......

You are talking about the old shut down bridge at the end of Sproat lake that takes you over to Snow Creek area? Beware that there is a lot of people that like to try and grab that spot for the entire summer. Just down is the MB Campsite and across that bridge (have to take the other way now) there a a few campsites people camp all summer in and farther down there is the Forestries Campsite "snow Creek", which they just expanded and it is really nice now. In the summer it is pay (atleast last year, it changes) and if they don't come by that day you don't pay for that day. Not sure when it opens for pay, but if we do it early it will be free. there is outhouses and everything there.
Another option would be the Heli Pad on the hump. Lots of area and clear cuts. I have run a few Military Exercises out there. Lots of camping spots and even a peatmoss field. HTere is a gate but I'm not sure if they close it anymore, and there use to be a second ungated entrance along teh road you go to Arrowsmith.
Another option is my friends Farm. He has huge forest areas, roads that cross from logging and clearings, campsites and a Castle and Inn on it. It is used for the SCA for a Long weekend War (medievel Group) in August. If we used non staining paint (like Stingers) he might go for it, plus he has a ton of scrap cars on the property (66acres) that they could pull to the fields to make a doomsday area. This is the p[lace we have been playing at for a bit.

location doesn't bother me. wherever. i like the nature, don't wanna do a lot of grunt work. natural boundaries are good but i have a zillion rolls of coloured tape i get 4 free. miles of it. can use that.
i like the hump field tho'. certainly a must stop. i would think a meet saturday morning thing. maybe 10 am nanaimo or 11am at the hump. 2 hours there. another hour to the spot. play in the afternoon early eve at the spot. sunday morning game 10-2 ish. be home by dinner sunday.
i can rig up a few 'group' shelters. peeps can sleep in their vehicles as well if they want. do your own food. dave and i have air covered. will we need CO2? i have a few bulk CO2 but that stuff's not free - sorry. like $3-$4 a tankfull. i only wanna bring Co2 if we hafta. i'd rather pre-fill a whack of 12oz's at my shop b4hand. i have 70 of them or so.
also, i have google earth, but let's wait til we all know what we wanna do? co-ordinates this early might lead to disappointment. the spot i'm thinking the bridge is still active, there is a nice river beach spot and everytime i use it in the summer, there is the odd camper, but not full-seasoners. that's summer too. spring is a little too early to expect some1 there.
