Hi TRoy,

Yes it was great to met. It was good I was wearing my T.roy jersey. You guys played really good. warplanred I think is the weekend after skyline. Skyline Nation is a great event. They feed you like kings and it's sponsered by Budwiser. MR paintball will be there with a pro shop to sell paint and tech markers. They are making too custom markers as part of the prizes. I was hoping some of you would be coming down to show us flatlander how it's done. I would hope you would sign up for the World Task Force and rain <swear filter> on the Skyline Nation. This event is not like most events out there. Once you played it you will be back next year. If you guys have question about the event, like do you think it's was worth it. Ask on our site under skyline nation or the guys on albertabushball. I wouldn't worry about best value with Skyline Nation . You won't find anything like this. If you fly in they pick you up at the airport and bring you down to the field. I rent a motorhome every year and bring out my 42" LCD to watch the video from the day.The guys from the states have already signed up. 3 from LA, 2 from Coloardo. Blast Raduis podcast is coming back. It sounds like a few people from outlaw paintball in Van are coming over to play. It's capped at 100 to 150. The best part is there is a salon to drink in after right beside the camping area.

If you can do a weekend for $100 I would do that instead. Times are tough right now. I just spent $360+ at National in 2 days -10games- 1 hour of playing time. entry,2 cases of paint, parking and food. The $350 is nothing it's the travel to get here, That I understand. Skyline isn't for everybody, If your stuck on the $350 and can't see what it gets you , then a one day big game is for you. Skyline is everybody's year end topper. They play paintball to get ready for skyline and once it 's over all you do is think about next year.

If you do the math the event cost is cheap for what you get, for most of us the travel and logistics would be the bigger hurdle. If we had a bunch of people doing a "Team Bus" kind of thing it probably wouldn't be too bad, but still need to book the better part of a week to do it and come up with a suitable vehicle to do the run with...

Definately on the ToDo list though.

Like you said Definitely on the ToDo list, one day.As it sounds like it is an incredible event.

The $350 isn't the real issue sounds quite reasonable for a 3 day event once there, its the cost of and getting from here to there and the travel time.

If I had the time and the cash and the permission of the wife I would go for sure, chances for me to be able to go this year very very slim.

Agreed, it would be an awesome event. Would need to take most of a week off if Driving. Unless anyone can fly us there ... wonder what a private plane for 20 guys would cost?

... hey, its only money.

CamoKing, I'd bet we could eat and drink "$350" worth alone ... might be harder to play the next day though.

I spend about $150-200 on a TPG day ... $100-120 on a scenario at Midway; but that includes travel.

This type of trip would work for me if I planned now for 2011 ... and spent the year grovelling with the wife.

That said, keep me in the loop if a group is going.

I'd fly out and attempt to arrange a pickup and drop off at the airport with the Skyline crew. Flights to Calgary run around $350ish... but I don't think I can hit this gig as the weekend before the BCPPL-IPL-MRSeries "Triple Crown" event runs somewhere in the interior... I will be broke I think.

these $350 paintball events are killing us.

a case of paint costs $30. we all own our own gear. so where the frak is the $350 going?

i'd set up a weekend thingie here on the island, no ff, $40 a box. bring your own steak. that's what we need more of. personally, i am completely sick of paintball having to cost every1 an arm and a leg.

don't get me wrong, i like the props and a few refs, but 4 th island militia, we could prolly do without refs and we could prolly find lotsa places with props already there.

all we need to do is pick a nice weekend and get every1 on board.

Well, in this particular case it's 3 days of play, 1 case of paint, and sounds like food and booze are covered for all 3 days as well... And yeah, I'm down for a BYOM Bushball BBQ event more than most guys, but I think we also have an unusually well equipped group of paintball freaks around here *laugh* I suspect we have several times the density of chronos fill stations, compressors and techs you'll find in pretty much any circle (if you discount the field operators)...

For us to put on a well equipped bush event for our buddies it mostly means packing the gear into the vehicles and finding a place to go. For pretty much everyone else it means finding someone that has the gear, space, refs, and when you're at that level of involvement you may as well go whole hog and plan a major to-do (as it sounds like they've done in this case). When you don't already have all the pieces available to put on a well produced shindig it IS worth it to most people to hire someone to do it for you, and even when you do have all the pieces sometimes it's nice to be able to just show up and play and not have to worry about the compressor, if everyone's got paint, etc...

It'd be nice to see MORE simple affordable events happening, but the big productions definately have a place for an occasional special event in most players lives, I know they always will for me... they'll just get bumped in favor of budget friendly ball when money isn't plentiful.

k, i can see where this could b misunderstood and for that i apologize. i din't mean events like the natz and skyline etc. aren't worth $350 - they are. i've been to the natz about 8 times and we always did the budget thing and for the most part it was worth it. - and although i haven't been to skyline, i can appreciate it has a lot of logitstical costs - plus you get paint, food, brew, props, organization, the works. it's prolly well worth it.

so sorry if the hosts of these events were offended as that was most certainly not the intention.

i meant that with ALL these events costing so much money, paintball in it's present form is having some major growth issues. to the point of killing the sport.

so no, skyline and the natz weren't the intended target. you usually get what you pay for and i have a great time at these kinda things.

i guess what i'm trying to say is that we need more cheepie events to get more players into the game. that's all. and of course, this is just my personal opinion.

Heh Tom,

Totally interested in seeing a local bush-renegade game set up. Lets do it. Talk to you on the 6th (WarParty practice at the Cage)...

Skyline Nation... I'd go... if I were not already committed to play BCPPL the weekend before. It is going to be a killer long weekend with Bree, and music and more bree followed by another can of bree. Yum. Canned cheese! Who would have thought that a cheese company like Bud would sponsor a paintball event! Nutty woods ballers from across the country all gathered together... good times. Massive field. Food provided by the hosts... dude... good times.

I understand what your saying. It's a long way and times are tough right now but I thought I would still post it here. We have people come from everywhere to play Skyline. It's our Big event. It's like the Nationals for woodsball players. We have 6 guys drive all the way from Toronto with their trailer. A few guys from Van's outlaw paintball forum are taking 2 cars down for it. We started a woodsball league in Calgary. The CSWL -Calgary Scenario Woodsball League. The format is like the SPPL with some minor changes. We have 5 team that play in it every year. Mayhem doesn't charge anything to play in it. We supply the Air, Field and props (rocket launcher, objectives) all you have to bring is a team and paint. The teams play because the price is right. At the end of the year we have a weekend tourney at Skyline to see who's on top. It's all for fun. Our team sponsors ,MR paintball and Badlands donate some prizes and we buy the rest with our team discounts, out of my pocket. Why because I love doing it. So I understand the money thing. Like Southpark said maybe not this year maybe next year. Skyline isn't going anywhere it just gets bigger and bigger ever year. After I thing about it alittle too myself it makes me think about not playing Nationals next year $350 + for 1hr of playing time almost makes me sick when I think about it.
