yep. thought we might continue on with the 'affordable' paintball theme by opening a paintball-only pro shop on our property in nanaimo. so - no rent and club-staffing means very little overhead. of course this translates into low pricing. now i won't make the same mistake we made years ago by offering low (wholesale-level) pricing to every1. regular retail prices may be the smartest move to keep the peace. (every1 who knows our club knows we're players, not businessmen). we are zoned, registered, licenced and just awaiting conversion of one of our large rooms......

but

members of this esteemed forum should be able to get product far far cheaper than by shopping elsewhere.

hours, directions, prices, product etc. will be available to the people of earth soon. keep posted. (oh, and yes, a mobile act for the cage is being mulled.) looking forward to saving y'all some money..... 2010 should be awesome for island ballers....

bin getting questions re marker selections.

definitely mil sims - the coolest 1's out there.

also speedball markers - but because they upgrade them every year it's a gamble which 1's 2 stock. if it doesn't sell, you're left with a very expensive paper weight....

we'll stock the 'must have' markers from both genres. up on the wall. basic colors. you'll have 2 visit us 2 c the deals. (there will b gasps)

you can pin us on google; 1845 nanaimo river road. but we'll b a month or 3 b4 we open th doors. would b nice 2 have a budget that would allow us those gun racks like in matrix.- but we'll work something and get a decent rack.

- what i think the market needs is a simple store, the basics. but keep in mind a grass-roots approach has 2b adopted 2 try and keep interested players in the game longer. attach some sort of 'new-player friendly' field and program. as long as we keep costs where parents won't fight the kids because it's structured, safe, and cost-viable. if this can b sold with the marker or the mask or the paint THEN the pro-shop will survive because they're doing their part of 'creating' and maintaining the market.

if it's woodsball, we're gonna do our best 2 get them in2 something that is so ridiculously realistic and bush/sniper/machinegunner. get them hooked up 2 this forum. introduce them 2 the likes of hellfire and island militia and the whole island-united movement. hook 'em up with quality paint at prices that keep 'em coming back. throw 'em the odd goodie like a cool squeegie or camo-do or a coupla pods 4 free. that sorta thing. let 'em know about matt's big games intswassen and the other island efforts 2 keep the players in the game. connect. network. b pro-active and keep that island woodsball scene growing. - sell them THAT with the marker.

if it's speedball, same thing. give them a list of teams. give 'em the lowdown on what might best fit them. some teams are picky about their players, others not so. the forum, the series' and leagues and tourny's that promote the good things in paintball. network. make more. push it. contribute. be proactive, suggestive, supportive. - optimistic - and well.... u get the idea.

in my opinion, that's what is needed to keep a pro-shop alive. let's face it. it's a tough market in even tougher times. so hopefully island players keep it island with pw and bastion both with on-line projects - they've served AWESOMELY for years. and harrelsons, nicol street, us.

monologue - sry.

Awesome! With Bastion all but disappearing from Nanaimo and Nicol St. Pawnbrokers pretty much running the show, I'm glad to see some new options springing up.

Will look you up and pay a visit - best of luck in your venture!

Tom always stocks Draxxus paint at the cage, and his home field I'm sure he'll have the whole line of DXS paint at his shop
