PRESS RELEASE

paintballevents.ca (our new website - still under construction)

introducing an 8 event series for the speedballers in b.c. - 2010: the 1st sunday of every month starting with SUNDAY MARCH 07th at 9:30 a.m. and continuing every month until october where the final event will be 'the 1 for the guns'

RUN 4 TH' GUNS

- 2 divisions: OPEN and ROOKIE
- 5-player centre flag, 5-minute games (5-man is played at th cdn nationals and the nppl as well)
- 1st event is at TSWASSEN PAINTBALL GAMES with subsequent events spread between some of the great speedball fields throughout the lower mainland including SNIPERS PAINTBALL and others tba.
- fully reffed by the CAGE staff, TPG staff and 'ground-ninja' members of VIPR CORPS
- instant shopping spree prizes 1st through 3rd for both divisions AT ALL 8 EVENTS at any PBL WEST location/store
- trophies in both divisions 1st - 3rd AT ALL 8 EVENTS
- 4500 psi
- ample parking
- shelters
- concession
- turf/netted/new sup'air bunkers/spectator seating/next door to hwy, gas station, snackbar

confirmation is pending but we are hopeful to offer new LUXES and EGO's as prizes at the final event. (must have participated in 4 of the previous 7 events). 5 markers per team for 1st in both divisions.

all this at an affordable price akin to a good team practice: (but better 'cuz u have refs, competition and structure)

- $25 entry per player (player card included)
- cases of paint starting at just $48/2000 with the top brands at $63/2000

the mission:

to give the newer teams to the sport a chance to experience the thrill of competitive paintball while still keeping the costs within the budgets neccessary to begin.

in addition, regular competing provincial teams will have the option to practice for their own paintball agenda's: bcppl, nws, island series etc in a 'tournament feel' environment but at a cost similar to a regular practice. the refs and structure keep the game safe and fun for every1 while the trophies and prizes create the 'rush' similar to that of the bigger leagues. in essence, paintballevents.ca is helping to grow the sport at the GRASS-ROOTS level.

this 'practice series' should help create a new group of teams and therefore augment many of the existing paintball events such as the provincial league, the ipl the nws, the mxl and the island series.

other great draws are being mulled and this is an early draft but expect to see a push for a b.c all-star team sponsored by a collection of paintball companies and also a push to bring the x-ball experience to b.c to stay.

yeah, a lot of good can come out of a design like this including benefitting local paintball companies for both the paint and the prizes plus some of the host fields will be able to up their infrastructure bringing us all closer to a 'field standard', enhancing play throughout b.c.

if we can tap into this grass roots market and create new growth, these new teams, along with our own and other existing teams can support other ventures (perhaps get brawl to 40(!) teams etc) and really get those speedball and x-ball fires going!

up at 7, catch the 8, get picked up on th other side. compete. cheep. have fun, go home. doesn't get much easier eh? having PBL WEST on board and having them be so co-operative for this initiative is a plus 4 island 'ballers! the cage is nice, but the turfed field at tswassen is one step nicer me thinx.

Looks pretty sweet Tom. One question are the dates set in stone or may possibly be moved. If there is a BCPPL on the same date, wouldn't that make it harder for a team to play in both formats/leagues?

One thing I can say, for the cost: this may be the best practice a team could get.

just from my experiences, most league dates are mid-month and 1 per season(ish) - but ABSOLUTELY, when the bcppl schedule comes out, we'd move 2 accomod8. that's part of what this whole internet generation has brought 2 us, the ability 2 b flexible and have some 'heads up' to bring th' most 2 th 'baller. the paintballer's needs have 2 come 1st and ideally, some of the teams going 2 th league would make their last training stop at 'RUN4TH' GUNS' b4hand 2 prepare themselves AND get a chance 2 re-equip their team with new markers 2 boot. the better teams will get a 'spree prize' every month and again, get a chance 2 equip their respective teams. 6 teams each month get a spee, x 8 events = 48 upgrades/aquirings in 1 season. a lot of equipping and maintainence.

That's so true and a good way too look at it espesily the teams that have that drive to want to excell like even if your not the best team in the beginig you have that chance to grow though the season as u go to each event and who knows the starting bottom team if they have the drive could walk away with a new set of guns after the 8th event

i've seen that lots 2! even th newest teams who seem 2 almost never win at 1st find themselves out front in the end b'cuz they stick 2 it and gel throughout th season. they get 2 see what th successful teams r doing and get a chance 2 grow in that regard too.

most teams will only proll do 1/2 of th 'practice events' but a team that stays and does most of them will prolly b th team in th running at th end.

press release has been issued (in addition to here on the IPF) to southern b.c. paintball and vancouver island paintball forums. there is a good possibility 1 (or 2) of the events will b held in the interior. just working out the logistix. we will need teams dedicated to attend a few of these in order 4 it 2b successful. personally i can't see another opportunity like this being offered again if this is not supported and that will kill any options for the newer teams just getting going - so tell your friends and start training some 5-man homies!

another info burst will get done as soon as we have r account finalised with pbnation to set us up our own 'run 4 th guns' section and complete the posters/handouts. 5 man will b practiced at the cage all winter long, sundays at high noon.

What's stopping you from pointing the domain to a free host with even a simple static home page Tom?
If 'posting' on forums is your only current 'press release' package then you may want to exclude the URL you are posting or atleast have something up for it.

well we haven't been idle since the last update; although we had hoped to have the site up this week, it's looking like next week is the new 'target' date.

apparently we want it awesome, so 1 more week 2 really get what it is we want. our web designer is top-calibre so patience, my firends. patience.

a lot has been added to the 'run for the guns' but matt won't let me spill the beans!!! 'wait' he insists........

so, i have to wait another week to release the news which will ABSOLUTELY get every1's interest and solidify the 'run 4 the guns' as a must-attend series. - the updates will be released here first!

Ladies and gents, I apologize for the delay in the website going live. Rest assured, it is now on a quick completion date with a professional designer, and will be up for everyones edification shortly.

I will have more info on the sponsors guns coming up shortly as well, and we look forward to hosting the first event on March 07, 2010 at TPG.

Regards,

Matthew Jantzi

Matt, I've only added the March 7th event to the IPF Calendar so far I wanted to confirm whether these are all going to be happening at TPG or if there will be multiple venue's involved before I post details for the other 6.

Hey SW, it will be multiple venues, as we hope to travel around some to save players on some travel costs where possible. These are extremely inexpensive events, and we will have to tweak things as we go to ensure that everything works moneywise, and to the satisfaction of the players.

Regards,

Matt

2b upd8ed:

march 07 - tpg (tswassen)
april 04 - tpg
may 02 - snipers (chilliwack)
june 06 - to be announced
july 04 - tpg
august 01 - to be announced
september 05 - snipers
october 03 - tpg

the 2 'to be announced' venues are in negotiations. interior/another local mainland field/northern bc are the options

also, there will be 2 events added to the 'run 4 th guns' weekend, both to be held on the saturday and both TOP SECRET.

that's an option - but that option works only if we can get a decent team turnout. most of the mainland teams will not want to make the trip and that's always an issue. living on an island has some drawbacks. but with a lot of the events at tpg, island teams should still be able to make the trip (free shuttle prolly - or one that's $2 a player or something like that) cuz 'the run4th guns' will be very inexpensive. no vehicle required.

add to that ($48 tourny paint, $25 entry - includes all-year player card - trophies through 3rd, refs, shelters, prizes) and you can see mike, how this becomes a training system that's REALLY gonna boost a team's performance. once a month, with TOP SECRET events planned for the saturday.
