Theme: It is December 1979. The Soviet Army invades the Afghan capital with ground and paratroops disguised as Afghan Army regulars. Their intention is to invade Iranian oil fields after pacifying local resistance. The Afghan tribes become loosely aligned as mujahideen, or freedom fighters. Bands begin to harass the Soviets both in the cities and lawless countryside.

Morning game (10am start till 12:30): This game will start with the Soviets at the far staging area, and the Afghans at the close staging area. An advance team of 8 Soviet paratroops will start at the helicopter, and a hidden band of 8 mujahideen will start at the APC. The Soviets must overtake the APC and Embassy to gain control of mujahideen communications. A radio prop will be hidden somewhere in the embassy area and be worth extra points for the Soviets in the morning game.

NOTE: Each General will clearly instruct his team on the proper positioning, rules, and objectives with their player speech before both the morning, afternoon, and final games. DO NOT MISS YOUR GENERAL’S SPEECH! He will be giving out very important information throughout the game. Use his knowledge to your benefit!

Lunchtime and 2 on 2 TPX tournament (12:30 till 1:30): Run by Tippmann, a 2 on 2 tournament with TPX guns will be running on the speedball field starting at 12:30. Be there at 12pm to sign up – max 16 teams! Free entry, and free use of the TPX!

Afternoon game (1:30 start till 4:00): The Soviets have felt the wrath of the local resistance, and have been driven back to the Castle and APC. During this game, the Afghans must locate the Soviet fuel dump, represented by a fuel canister prop located near the APC. If they can locate this canister, the Afghans will be awarded extra points. Teams will start at the same staging areas as the morning game.

Final game (4:45 – 5:30pm): The Soviets are harrying the Afghans, who after their initial successes in the hills, have lost ground in the cities. The Afghan Hesbi I Islami is the final resistance band to hold Kabul (the Embassy), and who have obtained a captured Soviet tactical nuclear warhead. They are now under heavy Soviet attack, who are trying to get back the stolen tactical warhead. Soviet troops will begin at the far staging area, and will have to dig out and eliminate all Hesbi I Islami forces from the Embassy and ridgeline. If the Soviets are able to reach the nuclear sign hidden on the ridgeline, they will win the final battle. If the Hesbi I Islami are able to defend the nuclear sign hidden on the ridgeline, they will win the final battle. Final battle is worth 1000 points.

Awards: 5:45 – 6pm:

Fantastic prizes in our raffle that all players have a chance to win. We have a BLAST MTAC STAGE 2, brand new of course, along with (courtesy of Tippmann, thanks guys!) some pimped out markers (X7s, A5s, etc), along with TPX’s that can be won in the 2 on 2 tournament at lunchtime! If it is ready in time, we have a custom built C98 Sniper rifle with sight that will be given away as well! We also have Warsensor messenger bags, Eye Tactical helmets, Vforce masks, Camouflage America remotes, guns by SmartParts and Proto, Canucks hockey tickets, XM home and car kit, and the best costume as decided by the crowd gets a TPX with Warsensor holster!

Islanders are Soviet this time around. I have a better handle on experience on each time this time around, and some new rules for tanks that should work very well for all involved. Stay tuned!

I'm in the same boat never played the near side, just seems I only make it out to 1 or 2 of the events and not all 3 and a;ways end up on the far side cest la vie
