At least one other forum I'm on has rejected the use of anonymous mail services such as hotmail, yahoo mail, gmail and other such services to help get away from the bots being able to join the forums.

The next option is to have every member be OK'ed by an admin or moderator rather than allowing instant joining.

Something to think about.

it used to be that way

even then

some mods/admins would "approve all" pending validation

blacking out hotmail, gmail, yahoo, isn't the answer - the answer is known - the effort just needs to be exserted

I looked at all the admins, and none of them are very active. Im done with trying to keep up with this, if there is no admin who actually cares enough about this forum to sign in more than once every 2 weeks then I dont want to be the only one trying to moderate it.

Well Dan, before you bitch did you see the post i made about the software that needs to be updated? And that only one admin actually may be able to put it in?

I have looked into the problem dan, And i found what seems to be an answer, BUT I don't have access to FTP so their for i can't update the software.

Someone talk to brandon at bastion and convince him to talk to the one admin that can do it.

Or maybe the "one admin" is sick and tired of the board/paintball and wants someone else to take it over, pay the monthly bills on it instead as well as doing all the upkeep and updates.

I'll do it. PM me.

5794 registered memebrs eh?
I'll bet 30-40 post regularly to often/randomly - another 30-40 creep and the rest could be deleted and no member would notice.

Time for a pass over?
Should we have people splash blood above their doorways or what?

A ban isn't the solution.

I doubt you'll see the same account name mass PM spam again.
Lack of updated code is the repeat offender not the created account.

Hmmm... true Rob. I cannot recall a repeat pm from the same account name. I had assumed that Dan was killing them as fast as he could so the 'bot was not flooding the site. Maybe they have it set as a "one time" offender? WHo knows. Ban it anyway and fix the code-sec. features.

I got two from One guy a while ago, i deleted the Messages but it was from Angelz-something or other.

I agree about the update Don't click on them, it's not hurting anything, i really bet most of us have better thhings than whine about the Spam. it's like...3-4 sometimes aweek, just delete and go on with what you were doing, Admins can update when they can.

Yeah what he said.

A mod could also delete all these gay thread about this topic as well.
Suspend the option of new member sign ups as well until the updates are done.
