I wish that someone would develop a "Lynch Sender" option on things like email, PM systems. Even if they added a button that didn't work it would still make me feel better.

If you get these pm's send the name of the account to a mod or admin so they can ban the account. I have already done so to a few of them over the years.

If I wasn't over booked and over worked already I'd volunteer to code up an account verification mechanism to make sure these spam bot fckers aren't sending me junk. Unfortunately I don't see myself having enough time to do that till June probably...

Auto account verification with a link to a email account gets gobbled up by php spam bots.
Manual account verification by a admin allows for selective filtering.

Seems the rash of PM'd links continues and are getting more creative.

To make you feel better here is a random facebook photo that really helps define what paintball is all about.

Name the girl for 200 points.

Win nothing for point accumulation.

A couple of forums I'm on are not not allowing Email accounts from Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoomail and any of the other anonymous mail services. It's to try to get around this SPAMbot issue.

The requirement to provide a few post sounds good at first but what if a real user signs up so they can buy something off the forum members? Sort of shoots us in the foot, eh?

Im doing the best I can to ban accounts, but you have to send me their names for me to do anything about it. Complaining and talking about it doesnt help. Im hoping that eventually an admin will actually see this thread and do something about it, as I can only do so much.

Well Dan, If the hope you express above is that admin will see this thread and do something... talking about it here may infact be helpful. Thanks for banning the goofballs who post up the trash.

Nice find Rob.

Tim found it - someone just needs to apply it
We love you Dan but clearly this goes beyond just "Banning Account Names"
Someone might step up and take corrective action - till then we can just shut up and put up with it.

Free board.
Free PM Spam.

Right now, every time I log in I am banning newly created accounts with similar names to the ones already baned. They all seem randomly created. And since I have no life, I log on 20 times a day, and should get them all pretty fast. Admin please read this and do something about it. I dont know an active admin account to pm...

helps to have a active admin that knows how to end this junk properly and promptly but meh...it's tolerable - not like it's hard to delete BS pm's from spam bots

in time someone will update whats needed - no biggie

you would have to be a complete retard to go through with obeying everything you read on the internet from random pm's/pop-ups and email/links - most people are smarter then that now-a-days
