So I decided to get my 20z tank filled up and get it filled up, I had a pack of these no-name brand paintballs that came with my marker, so why the <swear filter> not see what kind of ride I'm expecting from this gun.
Now I went to Canadian Tire, and they sucked. The guy took my tank, came bank 5 minutes later and it was covered in icy cold frost. He told me that the machine was busted, and as hard as he tried he couldn't get it to fill properly...
I was like.. all right, guess I'll take it somewhere else. So I took it to Nickel Street Paintball and got it filled up. Now this is where my problem takes place.

The first couple of shots were amazing, really accurate, but I heard this almost tinging noise every time I shot, like coming from the tank. The tank also kept leaking, like really bad too. I figured it could have been the marker or something I was doing wrong, so I kept shooting away anyways.
I was really disappointed because the paint kept breaking in the barrel and clogged up the barrel, making the marker really inaccurate. I figure the paint was really <swear filter> quality, being the fact it came with my marker.
I stopped shooting after 4 minutes, tried adjusting the tank, but it kept leaking, and finally I gave up.
So I went back inside cleaned out the barrel thoroughly with the barrel cleaner, wiped any access paint that splattered on the marker itself off, and tried figuring out what was wrong with the tank. I tried putting my friends 12 oz tank on, hoping it was just the tank was screwed. To my surprise there was no leaking, no ting noise when I fired it, I was pretty happy. I also liked the 12 oz tank a lot better, it made the gun so much lighter and I would rather go through a couple of those then chug along a 20 oz. I put the 20 oz tank onto my friends marker, but there was no leaking or tinging noise when fired either.
I put the 20 oz back onto my marker, and there was no tinging noise again.
Sorry I wrote up the whole story, but kind of wanted to fill in every little detail.
So my main question is, what was my markers deal?

Is your tank new or did you get it used? The only thing I can think of that would cause a tank to make a ting sound would be expansion / pressure changes but I don't think a healthy tank will do that under normal use. I'm certainly no expert when it comes to shooting CO2 though as I only use CO2 with pump guns so hopefully someone else will have more input for you.

The paint breaking alot shouldn't be related to a tank leak or over pressure situation, it's more likely that you were either using really fragile or swollen paint that was breaking in the barrel when you shot or you were trying to shoot faster than your hopper was feeding balls so the bolt was chopping balls as they entered the breech.

The tank is brand new, came with the marker.
I'm thinking it's just bad paint, I wasn't shooting like rapid fire, just a normal constant speed.
I'm using the hopper that came with the Tippman, I doubt it should be that, I would imagine a lot of people would complain about it if it was.

Transitory "Ping and Ting" Syndrome. Common with the Tippamnns. LOL. jk.

Check the Oring for defects (Leaks) and ensure that the tank is fully screwed in and is not cross threaded. Make sure you lube the marker with marker oil (put four drops into the ASA and dry fire it) (noise... hammer noise being echoed by the CO2 tank). Make sure the CO2 tank is not overly full (did they weigh it at the store after filling it?). If the tank is frosty when you are shooting slow down.

u have 2 realize nikle street is a pawnshop. they take people's goods on loan for cash. then they charge u 20% a month. (whereas a bank is 5% a year(!) - so if u buy from a pawn shop, they may not be as switched on as say, buying from a paintball store.

sounds like a leaky o ring on the tank. sounds like an un-lubed bolt. try doing what southpark suggested.

Lol, well I actually enjoyed using a 12 oz so much, I traded tanks with my friend. The 20z works fine on his. I don't think they weighed it when I got it filled (new guy). The tank wasn't frosty but it was still cold. I'm going to buy some better paint on friday, get a second tank, and a new pod harness. I'll test shoot it then a couple of times to see if the problem was fixed.

Lol Ping and Ting Syndrome, didn't know Tippamns were made in China.

Alright~~ Day two, I wanted to see what the freak was going on with my marker.
I went out a bought some 'stryker?' paintballs and tried test firing them.
To my surprise, there was no breaking, I could fire as fast as I wanted and they would remain accurate. Sweet deal~~ So it was the paint.
The second thing I noticed was the tank wasn't leaking, and the lighter feel of the marker really helped, so I bought another 12 oz co2 tank.
My only problem was the tinging noise, It is the bolt in the cocker. I forgot to grease it up, but hopefully that does it.
That's what you guys were talking about right when you said ASA? The bolt in the cocker?

asa means air source adapter. its what you screw your tank into. the pinging noise in the tank is normal though.

ASA... Just put four drops of MARKER oil into the ASA (the thing you screw your CO2 tank into). Then fire it a couple of times (the oil is blown thruout the maker and the moving parts get a "refresh" ).

Oh! I couldn't figure out why it would be beneficial, but that's really a good idea. Thanks!
