i don't think the visor has any safety factor other then not getting sun blinded as easily or shot in the top of the head, i've taken mine off several times when i wanted a little bit more of a low profile.

I keep a couple visors in my bag in case of rain.
Otherwise I never wear them.

most rules will state all safety gear must be unaltered and in original condition. however, visors, i believe, are optional.

That's like one of those "I can be a dic" rules of safety.
It's there for the players protection but they can be a dic on things like trimmed ear pieces or bottoms.
I'll bet the rule is there more for people that alter lens security.

I've seen someone denied field entry because of a soft ear mod on Profilers and trimmed bottoms on a ProFlex.
That's the being a dic call. I've also seen field entry restricted for no lens frame foam and a cracked lens.
That's the safety call. I've never seen anyone looked at for not wearing a visor

I guess it's just one of those rules that when written can be read either way but it's really there for the protection of idiots.

visors on any mask is optional at any tourney i have never ever heard of visors as a mask alteration it is all player preference i think brandon is the only guy i know who wears his visor all the time no matter what not sure on the other guys but like rob said most only use then to keep the rain off the lenses others like me will hang a towel over my head till 5 second warning then play i hate visors
