I replace the valve in my Triumph xt (yes the halo looking gun wacko.gif ), I gave it a few test shots and it looked like I was shooting a smoke gun. I was getting a ton of co2 smoke out the barrel but the balls were flying fast, far, and straight… and actually a lot quieter than it was before come to think of it. I’m guessing that I need to a just the velocity, I ran out of co2 before I could mess with the velocity screw. Would this cure the smoking problem, any thoughts (other than moving to air which I will be doing when I have more $)?

Here’s a link to a vid of what my gun is doing not the same gun but same result.

Play on a less humid day.
A AntiSyphon tube could help reduce the liquid getting into the marker.

Dunno... on colder damp days as 5MM relates you get a lot of "vapor". Dry fire indoors and see if the same amount of CO2 is dumping. Does your marker have the mini in line expansion chamber? I had two of the Triumph eXTs (XS Cargo for a super deal... 27 buX!) and the inline chamber was tiny but may have helped with CO2 (I shoot HPA though).

On a different note... I tore my eXTs down to parts after goofing around with them and moding them. I have a box of odd parts left over. Anyone want or need some Triumph parts? Free.

My eXT after I was finished my body mods:

Hummm well Sat was a crappy day out I guess that would have a lot to do with it. Yep its got the mini in line expansion chamber it's just not electronic. XS cargo is where I pick my gun up at, after reading some reviews. I figured it was a decent starter gun and would make a good backup in case my next gun messed up on the field. I put a 14 inch J&J Barrel on it and it's been a decent gun so far, but I'm looking forward to trying my Autococker...if I get my bore kit in time.

PB Review Triumph Xt

What sort of odd parts you got? Valve? Body parts?
Is that a pcv pipe you used for the barrel?

It was ABS not PVC mounted on a couple of PVC sprinkler pipe fittings that press fit onto the barrel. The mag is from an A5. The Camo Paint is Krylon from Crappy Tire. I used a dremel and my Sawzall to hack off the bits of front and mid grips that needed to come off and a file for fine tuning and a drill for thru holes to mount the mag. I tossed the expansion chamber. Miter saw to cut the angel on the ABS. Drill press for the faux machine gun pattern for the shroud. Simple. A couple of hours wasted playing with tools instead of in front of the TV after work.

Basically I have parts... the entire eXT with the exception of the e components as one set went into a 98 and the other I am going to use to mod my old BooYah trigger frame for one of my Mags (the solinoid is stronger with the eXT then the BooYah... and the board is better minus the LCD).

General rule: the colder and more humid the day, the more Co2 vapour youre going to get out of your barrel. Also, if you hold your gun in a downward direction, you are feeding liquid Co2 into the gun and it will cause this. Usually if you take your gun and fire it straight up for a few shots you will notice that the vapour calms down a bit. Its a trick I always use when chronoing guns at TNT, fire them up into the air first to get all the liquid out of the gun.

Make sure that the tank has a TC stamp on it. Likely you already know this... if it does not have Transport Canuckada stamp on it it will be an issue for you to get filled here. The DOT (US Dept. of Transport) is not enough. Looks like this: http://www.mcarterbrown.com/forums/misc-pa...dot-stamps.html

Thanks, that's a good thing to know for the future, it's a Pure Energy Fixed - 5 Year N2 Tank - 72ci 3000psi with TC stamp cool.gif Got lucky I guess, because I just looked at the DSX one I was going to get and doesn't have it. The paintball gods must like me...at least for today.

Good work. Just make sure the tank has a TC stamp (the Canadian equivalent of DOT in the US) or you will not be able to fill it at any commercial field. Let me qualify that - any commercial field that adheres to Transport Canada regulations, that is. The official government Act mandates a $50,000 fine for a business that fills a non TC stamped tank or one that is out of hydro - and that is for a first offence. A tank can only be TC approved at the time of manufacture, so if the tank does not show a TC and then a number under the fiber wrap, it can never be TC approved no matter what anyone may tell you. Even having it hydro tested by a local shop and having a new hydro sticker that does have a TC stamp is not sufficient.

Most compressed air tanks that are fiber wrapped or kevlar have a 5 year hydro - the time from manufacture of the tank until the time you need to have it retested. The tanks manufacture date is printed on it, again under the fiber wrap. A re-hydro test involves removing the reg, filling the bottle with water, and pressurizing to a minimum 10000 psi to test for leaks or flaws. Obviously, you are not to do this - only a qualified dive shop or fire safety shop can do this for you. I recommend removing the reg yourself as many of the aforementioned shops have no idea what paintball is or how to remove your reg without destroying it. If your tank has nicks in the fiber wrap more than 1mm in depth, or the fiber is unravelling, it will automatically fail, and the place that is testing it for you will likely drill a hole in the tank to ensure it is never used again. So, a tank cover is a good investment. smile.gif

Anyways, good luck with the tank and in the future, try to buy local or at least from local players, in the event that you get bit by the TC thing. I see a lot of players in that boat through my stores, and it sucks.

Thanks Matt that's some real valuable info. I got this tank of the bay N2 Tank so as long as they told the truth, I should be all good....but we'll have to see. Now here's a question for you. If you brought a scuba tank and filled it yourself would that be allowed, since the field is not doing the filling? (strictly for curiosity's sake)

sonicmonkey,

I note that the parts box I left out is gone... I hope you picked it up or someone else has (aside from the plastic there are two power tubes and valves, X chambers, a barrel, a couple of hammers and some springs... good for parts... many will swap into the 98).

See you out there.

If your tank does not feature a TC number and you the OWNER are filling it from YOUR OWN equipment then "The Man" will not fine you.

"The Man" is out there and does random visits to stores, fields and events but I have yet to hear of anyone getting busted and fined for a non-TC tank fill violation.

This is very true.

I've been handed a card from a Transport Canada Agent after he had sent someone to me to have their non-TC tank filled before.

His 'spy/co-worker' was a dink about it not being filled as well - like as if some whiney, rude, douche canoe that can't get a air fill is going to bend my will and have me submit to filling it anyways.

Not sure why they would even care to target a new retail shop but hey - wierder things have been done.
You would think they would be better off targeting a event or field compaired to a small retail operation.
I think that the odds would play in their favor a lot more there for producing a valid fine.

Ya the do the same trick for cigs and booze, but at least they are doing there jobs. I'm glad you stick to the law, no madder how whinney people are. What are you going to say to the judge "Well he was really a pain in the <swear filter> so I broke the rules just to get him the <swear filter> off my back". That will go well....
