This is in the "so simple that it is overlooked" section of the "How To..." library.

I picked up a Phantom center grav breech body on Sunday from Horizon. Also snagged a few Winchester Hoppers from BPBV... darn things won't fit on a Phantom grav breech and require the use of a silly "collar" that puts the hopper up into the "shoot me here" zone as it stands up so high. What to do... take said hopper and cut a small bevel on the leading edge of the hopper's feed neck. Force it onto a pc of wood dowel (ie the toilet plunger handle hiding under the sink works well). Heat it with a lighter while gently forcing it down onto the dowel. Remove. Fit to Phantom breech. Done. Hopper sits nice and low. Increases capacity over stock class... so those of you that think you are loosing out to Cocker pumpers due to rate and capcity of fire now have a semi-solution. Get a grav breech from Horizon (or alternate) and rock the cocker pump players with no need to reload via 10 round tubes... no more pwnage? Maybe not.

Next... lock lid mod...

Hmmmm.... might be interesting....

The weight/balance would be an issue though, a loaded Q-pod is roughly the same weight as the Phantom itself.

Wish I had thought of that idea before I machined down my center stub and press fitted a clamping feedneck on.

Nice simple and direct mod. Well done!

Heh,

Forgot to post the lock lid mod pics. Again this is a simple fix that folks sometimes don't think of... IT IS NOT MY FIX (in that I did not think of it I just borrowed someone else's ingenuity). In this case the lid is held on with Crazy Glue as it is all I had in the house (rest of the glues are up in the shed on the hill... did not want to wander up to get them):

When gluing the lid on make sure not to push it down to far or the release mechanism won't function. Do a dry fit first and test... then mark... then glue.

Orient the release mech so as to be comfortable. I'm a lefty so I set it over for my right hand thumb can work the release...

I think next time I would just use electrical tape so the lid could be removed after the mech. fails.
